EXTREME sports and rock music combine for the annual wakeboarding extravaganza in West Cumbria this weekend.
Port Haverigg hosts the watersport festival Ride & Slide on Saturday, with hometown punk band Willowside Park leading the live music line-up.
The on-site lake has hosted The UK Wakeboarding Championships, and this weekend it will host competitions in three divisions. There will also be a barbecue, and an after-party, where the main event will be a full concert from the local lads.
The six-piece act have had a great 2015 so far, with their new EP receiving great reviews, an appearance alongside the likes of Motion City Soundtrack and Moose Blood at Fury Fest in Liverpool, and signing to established North West label White Bear Records.
Having completed a mini UK tour, and played regular shows across the North West, they are one of Cumbria's most talked about bands, and local shows are few and far between of late.
Registration for the wakeboarding is from 10am, and all are welcome, while the after party starts at 6pm, where a prizegiving ceremony also takes place.
- On Friday night, Willowside Park frontman Chris McQuire is joined by Jonathon Patton for a joint-headline set at the Old Kings Head, in Broughton. Both solo artists will be playing acoustic sets of well-known rock and pop covers from 9pm. Entrance is free.
