Furness Cubs and Scout leaders were presented with top honours at the Barrow and District Scout Association annual meeting held at St Paul’s scout hall in 1993.
Adventure Crest Award certificates, the highest award a Cub Scout could gain, were presented to:
25th Baptist Cubs: Stuart Patterson, Jamie Honey, Ben Montague, Tom Carpenter, Martin Kennedy, Stuart Balfour, Mark Spedding and Paul Brown.
CUBS: Cub Scouts from the St Matthew’s, St Paul’s Hawks, St Aidan’s and Baptist packs, who received awards at the Barrow and District Scout Association annual meeting in 1993
1st Barrow St Matthew’s: Christopher France, Neil Haughin, James Reid, Graeme Lee and Darren Roby.
St Paul’s Hawks: Christopher Shannon, Paul Mason, Luke Smith and John Foster.
St Aidan’s: Paul Griffiths, John Mark Millar, Daniel Grisedale and Paul Johnson.
Chief Scout Commendations for Good Services were also presented to the following Scout leaders: Bill Grisedale (GSL), 11th Barrow St Aidan’s Scout Group; Leslie Brown (GSL), 5th Barrow St Paul’s Scout Group; Bernard McMillan (ACSL), 1st Barrow St Matthew’s Scout Group; Linda McCoy (CSL), 1st Barrow St Matthew’s Scout Group.
Long service decorations for 15 years’ service were presented to: David Quayle (ASL), 7th Barrow Our Lady of Furness Scout Group; Andrew Jackson (ASL), 5th Barrow St Paul’s Scout Group.

In 1994 creative Cub Scouts from the 1st Ulverston pack were celebrating after coming out tops in an arts and crafts competition for groups in the Duddon and High Furness district.
The youngsters, who met at the new HQ in Ulverston Lower School each week, won the Joan Bower Trophy.
The Ulverston pack scored their first ever success in the handicraft and art contest, which was held at the racecourse home of the 1st Grange and Cartmel Cub Scouts.
Also in 1994 the 25th Barrow-in-Furness Baptist Scout Group celebrated Christmas in August while camping at Tarn Hows. Leader Chris Kennedy said the boys had wondered what camping at Christmas would be like.
They enjoyed a Christmas meal and pulled crackers.
MAYOR: The Mayor of Barrow Cllr Betty Willacy gave her seal of approval to the 26th Extension Scout Group’s new mini bus when she visited in 1994
