The Ulverston Church Walk School has had a colourful history of activities, events, special visits and charity days, intertwined with its high level of education.

In 1988 a special guest appeared at the school as presenter of the BBC’s children’s show Time and Tune, Douglas Coombes, paid a visit.

The year before, school pupils had taken part in a massive balloon race.

More than 100 balloons filled with helium were released in November of that year.

This was done in order to raise funds for the school during their autumn fun fair. The event raised £50.

One year earlier the school bid farewell to much-loved teacher Dorothy Gilbert, who took early retirement after 33 years at the school.
