IMAGES of a luxury gated community to be built in Ulverston have been released by a housing developer.

Eight homes are set to be built in Ford Park after planning permission was granted by South Lakeland District Council.

The mixture of three- and five-bedroom houses will be completed by spring 2017 and will cost between £375,000 to £550,000.

The homes are being built by Lancet Homes, in partnership with Ulverston firm Modlar Homes.

This development forms part of a much larger house-building project in the Ulverston area.

The South Lakeland Local Development Plan set out its intention to build more than 1,000 new houses in Ulverston by 2025.

The luxury homes are to include integral garages, as well as open plan kitchen and dining room areas.

Developers have stated that the designs of the houses were intended to reflect the character and heritage of the town.

Speaking about the new images, Alison Alger, Ford Park Community Group chief executive said: "It's lovely to see the next step of the design, in a 3D context.

"I would say the design is sympathetic to the park setting with integrity of design.

"We have a really good relationship with the developer, who we worked with since day one."

Speaking about the development, group sales manager at Lancet Homes, Carolyn Walsh said: “The Ford Park development is a very exciting and special project for both Ulverston-based Modlar Homes and Lancet Homes.

"The land was purchased to help save Ford Park, and the build will be extremely sympathetic and in keeping with the beautiful surrounding area.

"The exclusive homes will be part of a quaint yet very high specification luxury development, currently known as The Beeches due to the majestic Beech tree in the vicinity.

The street on which the houses will be has been named in honour of one of the town's most famous sons.

Ms Walsh said: "I’m thrilled to announce the road will be named Laurel Gardens in honour of Stan Laurel who was born in Ulverston.”
