THE Big Clean campaign for 2016 is on the hunt to get local businesses involved as sponsors gear up to get cleaning for summer.

Big Clean sponsors Kimberly-Clark have now been allied to the Evening Mail's campaign for three years and are hoping to take an active role for 2016.

Crichton Waddell, mill manager for Kimberly-Clark, Barrow, said: "We have a proud team at Kimberly-Clark and we want to ensure that we are playing our part in support of our community, as they support us.

"The Big Clean is a great initiative that engages a wide range of community members in stepping up and helping improve our environment, our community and helping ourselves.

"This initiative perfectly aligns with some of our company values that we aim to promote – authentic, caring, accountable and innovative. This is our third year being involved with the Big Clean campaign and we have appreciated the opportunity to be part of it.”

Kimberly-Clark are now planning to team up with a local primary school for a beach clean, in order to raise awareness throughout the Barrow branch of the company. However, in a bid to get more local businesses involved in the Big Clean, Kimberly-Clark will volunteer two teams this year.

The Evening Mail are now looking for more businesses to get involved with the campaign to take part in a business 'clean off' with sponsors such as Kimberly-Clark.

After the recent success of the healthy high street campaign, which saw several national retail brands based in Barrow joining together to clean up the town centre, the Big Clean are now looking for more business teams to help improve their community.

Getting involved in the Big Clean has proved a great success as a team builder for the work place. After a lot of interest from schools and younger community groups, it is important to get teams from big companies involved to continue a sense of civic pride to continue setting a great example.

Since its birth in 2011 the Big Clean has only grown in popularity, running for seven months every year and has attracted people of all ages, from community groups to school children, with hundreds of people getting involved.
