POLICE have confirmed they are aware of an issue with a number of caravans and large vehicles parking near to Barrow Cemetery.

A number of caravans were issued with fixed penalty notices earlier this year after residents complained about the number parked on Devonshire Road, which is commonly known as Cemetery Hill.

However, it appears the problem has resurfaced, as a number of vehicles are parked on the road once more, leading residents to register their unhappiness.

One elderly lady who lives nearby claimed she had seen someone emptying sewage into the public drains.

Although police confirmed they had been made aware of the issue, a spokesman said that unless a vehicle is causing an obstruction on a public highway, officers were unable to take action.
