A MAN who was caught with cannabis in a car park has been handed a fine by magistrates.

Scott Webb, 26, of Corporation Terrace, Barrow, pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug at Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after police smelt it emanating from his car which was parked in Furness College car park on May 14 at 9:45pm.

He was subsequently arrested and admitted in a police interview that it helped him chill out and sleep and that he normally kept the drug at home.

Webb was fined £80 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and prosecution costs of £85.

Magistrates also ordered for the seized drugs to be destroyed.
