STAFF at Furness General Hospital in Barrow have been applauded on Twitter for their selflessness after giving up their new year to keep our loved ones safe.
A picture of some of the members of the A&E team who work for the hospital was tweeted by Wael Elgallad, an Egyptian doctor currently working at Furness General Hospital.
The caption read: "Some of my colleagues in FGH, working during new year period. There are a lot of my colleagues not in the pictures. Respect to you all."
He tweeted out a similar message on Christmas Day to commend the workers who sacrificed a day with their families to work at the hospital.
