AN alcoholic from Barrow who was arrested by police walking drunkenly down the road after stealing a bottle of wine has pleaded guilty to two counts of theft.

Duncan Rose, 50, of Mount Pleasant, Barrow, who appeared before Furness Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, admitted stealing real wood logs and a bottle of wine worth £5.50 each from the Shell garage in Ulverston on October 17 and 19 respectively.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £20 and compensation to Shell of £5.50.
