A MAN from Walney has been banned from driving for 15 months and fined £335 after crashing into a music shop in Barrow while drunk.

Nathan Leslie Barker, of Dover Street, Walney, was charged with drink-driving after a crash in Dalkeith Street, Barrow, in the early hours of Monday August 15.

A 2016 white BMW 135i, was involved in a collision and ended up on its roof after hitting the shop front of R&T Music. No-one was injured in the incident but considerable damage was caused to the front of the shop, which has still not been fully repaired.

Barker, 23, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol having alleged to have provided a breath specimen which gave a reading of 51 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

At Furness Magistrates' Court on October 26, he was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £335 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £33.50 plus £85 court costs.
