FIRE crews were called to a dramatic blaze on the edge of Black Combe that could be seen for miles around.
Crews from Millom and Bootle were dispatched to a field fire at Silecroft on Saturday evening.
The alarm was raised shortly after 8.15pm on Saturday September 17 when onlookers spotted the huge blaze.

However when fire crews arrived at the scene, it was discovered that the fire had already burnt out.
Firefighters returned the following morning to check the area.
During warm and dry weather, grass fires can be difficult to control as flames spread exceptionally quickly.
