Millom 80 Eastmoor Dragons 16

MILLOM produced a stunning display in their opening National Conference home league game of the season as they scored 13 tries to pick up their first points of the season.

The Woollybacks , who had previously gone close to victory on their travels, made no mistake this time as they went ahead after three minutes through a Tom Newbegin try. Lee Postlethwaite converted. And a minute later they crossed again through Hanley Dawson for 10-0.

They continued their early dominance with another four tries in the space of 10 minutes, with Luke Brady, Newbegin, Niall Harris and Joseph Wright all adding to the lead. Postlethwaite converted three of them.

If you thought this was the end of the Wollyybacks' dominance, you would be wrong. They went up another gear and managed to run in another three further tries in the next 10 minutes. The first came on 23 minutes through Tyler Lancaster with Noah Robinson and young promising half-back Ethan Bickerdike following suit to score. Postlethwaite converted all of them.

It was then Postlethwaite’s turn to score as he crossed right on the half-time whistle. And with the same player converting, Millom went in with a 56-0 lead.

However, the visitors started the better after half-time with experienced half-back and ex-Barrow Raiders player Ady Mulcahy crossing. He converted his try in what seemed to be only a consolation score.

Shaun Upson then got over for a score to add to Mulcahy’s consolation and even though they trailed 56 -10, the visitors, credit to them, had continued to play.

Millom then took control once more with tries from Ethan Kelly and two from man-of-the-match Ross Brookes pushing the score out further, with two conversions from Postlethwaite making it 74 -10.

Eastmoor scored once more through Luke Peel but Millom had the final say when Dane Kelly crossed. And with Postlethwaite converting, and the whistle following shortly after, it finished Millom 80 Eastmoor 16.
