MILLOM managed to make it back-to-back wins in National Conference Division Three, after a convincing 38-4 win over an ill-disciplined Woolston Rovers, who had two men sin-binned.

They managed to respond well from home defeat at the hands of Beverley four weeks ago to boost their promotion bid.

Woolston, on the other hand, have now only mustered 10 points from 10 games. They started the day only three behind Millom with a game in hand, but ended it with the gap out to five.

The Woollybacks started in ruthless fashion when, after six minutes, the returning Adam Kelly managed to go over the whitewash; converting his own try.

Dominic O’Brien then scored two tries in three minutes, which saw Millom push further ahead, with Kelly converting one of the two to put the home side 16 points up.

And with Woolston also losing Lewis Hoarty to the sin-bin for dissent, things were going from bad to worse for the visitors.

Ross Brookes’ burst from 70 yards out saw him add to the score five minutes before the break and, with Kelly converting, Millom were 22-0 up.

Woolston did respond on the stroke of half-time through Dan Markham, after a smart kick into the in-goal area, but it turned out to be their only score.

The home side added further tries in the second half through Ricky Donaghue, Ethan Kelly and 17-year-old Connor Terrill.

With Adam Kelly converting two from thre, they secured a comfortable victory.

There was one negative moment in the second half when Harry Files was sin-binned close to the final whistle for dissent, but it had no effect on the outcome.

The man-of-the-match award went to Millom’s half-back Adam Kelly, who was instrumental on his return to the side.
