MILLOM managed to make it three wins in a row as they eased past a very spirited Oldham St Annes side with a 36-12 victory.

It took the Woollybacks 10 minutes to get going in this National Conference Division Three match. Joseph Wright found his way over after a very even start to the game. The conversion was missed by Lee Postlethwaite and Millom led 4-0.

Three minutes later they were in again when Noah Robinson, on his return to the side after missing last week’s win, burrowed his way over from hooker. This time, Postlethwaite could convert and it was 10-0.

The visitors did respond well to the pressure and on 31 minutes Callum Caskin finished off a well-worked blind-side move to cross to a position where Luke Skilling could add the extras and also make it game-on.

But before half-time Millom scored probably one of their best tries of the season. Ross Brookes returned the ball from inside his own half before breaking clear up the middle and offloading to Adam Kelly who got within five metres of the line before his calf went and brought him to a stop.

However, brother Ethan was there to collect the pass off him and cross the whitewash and finish off the move. Postlethwaite converted which meant Millom led 16-6 at the break.

Millom continued their rampant form after half-time adding four more tries to the scoreline.

Jonathon Hodgson, Postlethwaite, Noah Robinson and Brookes all crossed from close range after well-worked moves.

Oldham St Annes did finish with a flourish however, having a try disallowed for a forward pass halfway through the second-half.

The visitors did cross right on the final whistle after Brookes was sin-binned for his involvement in a fight which broke out. John Deakin was the try-scorer and Skilling added the extras once more to make the final score Millom 36-12.

Man of the match for Millom went to the excellent Noah Robinson who controlled the rucks with some brilliant work from the nine area.

The visitors’ man of the match went to Ryan Powell.
