DALTON will look to put last week's home defeat at the hands of Underbank behind them when they take on Lindley Swifts at Kelland Park tomorrow, writes Paddy McAteer.

The Pennine League Division One side were beaten 18-0 on a snowy Crooklands pitch last week, but tomorrow they have several players back in contention (kick-off 2pm).

However, Dalton will have to go into battle without workhorse Chris Reid who will probably sit out the rest of the campaign due to work commitments.

Assistant coach Owen Richards said: “We will be missing Chris Reid not only tomorrow but for the rest of the season.

“Chris has changed jobs and is now unavailable. He will be missed. He is a good leader and gives lots of encouragement to the younger players, he has been a good servant to Dalton rugby club.”

Missing from last week's line up is Harri Brown who has a shoulder injury. He could be out for several weeks. Also out is Jordan Woodend with an ankle injury.

Ashley Allonby could return following injury while Daniel Laisby will have to sort out work commitments if he wants to pull on a jersey.

Definitely in the reckoning are Ryan Milner, Jamie Southward, Ross Clayton, Dan Richards and youngster Matt Bamber.

Richards added: “We are much stronger this weekend and hopefully we will get back on track. Last week we let ourselves down in the second half due to ill discipline amongst several players.

“The lads will have to cut in out as it cost us dearly. We also made too many mistakes so will have to put that right.”
