LEADERS Askam head to bottom-placed Ulverston looking to build on their advantage at the top of the Barrow and District League tonight.

After a week where the Barton Townley Cup took centre-stage, the A-teams are back in action.

Askam look as though they are going to be a force to be reckoned with again this season, having lost only one game – to Barrow Island.

Ulverston are rebuilding after losing several players, with shift work patterns playing its part. They also have several youngsters coming through.

Hindpool are at home to Barrow Island, looking to turn things round as they are at the wrong end of the table, sitting second-bottom.

The Island are flying, winning three out of three, and will be hoping to build on their start and avoid the pattern of previous seasons, when they have fallen away.

Walney go to Kelland Park, where hosts Dalton will be looking for their second win of the season.

Both sides are in mid-table, on two points each, and while home advantage could see Dalton take the spoils, Walney are always a side to be reckoned with and are sure to push their hosts all the way.

Dalton Under-16s have been left scratching their heads this week following their latest cup match against Hensingham at Kelland Park.

At full-time, the scores were level at 16-all. To get a result, the referee and coaches from both clubs agreed to play 10 minutes each-way, golden-point rugby.

It was a great game that went from end-to-end, and Hensingham had the chance to win, but missed two attempts with drop goals.

Dalton put an attack together and went up the other end, where they put over a drop-goal of their own to clinch victory.

At the end of the game all was well, with players shaking hands after a game worthy of being a final.

But a day later, Dalton received a phone call saying Hensingham had complained about playing extra-time and had approached BARLA.

An unhappy Dalton camp are now waiting for the outcome.

Tonight's Fixtures (7pm): Dalton v Walney, Hindpool v Barrow Island, Ulverston v Askam.
