BARROW Island have the opportunity to clinch promotion to National Conference League Division Two tomorrow - if they can overcome Oldham St Annes.

They go across the Moors aiming to pick up the points while having one eye on Millom’s trip to Clock Face. A win for the Island and defeat for the Woolybacks will see them clinch second place.

Even if Millom win, a victory tomorrow and at home to Dewsbury Moor next week will see them into the higher division.

“It is going to be a tough game,” said Island coach Joe Elliott. “Oldham are a good side, but we will go with an air of confidence after a very good win over Beverley two weeks ago.

“We need to get out of this division and start our next challenge in a higher league.”

Dan White and Ryan Clegg are ruled out through injury, otherwise it will be the same squad which defeated Beverley.

Clock Face v Millom

It is a must win game for the Woolybacks if they are to clinch third place and home advantage in the play-offs, and coach Tom Sibley has prepared his side for a hard 80 minutes in St Helens.

“We beat them convincingly at our ground, but they are a different team at home,” said Sibley. “We have to get our away head right if we are to win this one but we are all aware of the task.”

Sibley (Finger) and Tyler Lancaster (knee) are ruled out. Joe Wright and Dane Kelly face late fitness tests and Dom O’Brien is working. Into the squad come Ethan Bickerdyke, Kyle Evans, Ian Armstrong and Ryan Mason.

East Leeds v Askam

Askam travel to Yorkshire aiming to get their bid for a top four place in NCL Division Two back on track.

Coach Dave Clark will have to install confidence in his squad after last week’s 50-6 defeat at Saddleworth.

He said “We were 30-0 down on the half hour mark but we came good in the second half to lead 6-0 only to concede further points.”

Half-backs Mike Wilson and Adam Jackson are unavailable, but Kris Tyson returns.

The funeral of former secretary Henry Yates takes place at St Peter’s Church, Ireleth on Monday 3pm .

Latchford Albion v Hindpool Tigers

Hindpool’s target in the North West Men’s League Division is fourth place. It is over six weeks since they have seen any action, but Lee Boyd (knee) Grant Burns (calf) are ruled out.

“We are down in numbers, but we will get 17 together and we are after a good result with the home game with Walney in mind next week,” said coach Phil Cubiss. “We need game time before that local derby clash.”
