Walney Central 34 Hindpool 24

WALNEY maintained the 100 per cent record in this North West Men's League Division One top-of-the-table clash after staging a great comeback when all seemed lost.

Cents were down to 12 men two minutes into the second half when Cameron Hetherington was sent off for punching and kicking out at Phil Cubiss.

Within three minutes the Tigers were ahead at 18-4 then heading for victory at 24-10 on the hour mark.

But then came the Cents comeback which made it seven wins on the trot.

Walney took an early lead when Morrow dummied his way over.

But losing possession proved costly for the home side, as Connor Goodings swooped to gather and race over for Connor McDermott to convert.

Four minutes from the break good play from the Tigers saw Goodings in for his second try, with McDermott adding the goal for 12-4.

The second half was barely under way when Hetherington was dismissed, leading to the Tigers adding points with a Sneesbv try, goaled by McDermott.

Walney hit back with a second Morrow try converted by George Nicholls. But Hindpool stretched their lead with a Rob Bower try and McDermott goal.

Walney responded with Adam Ford crashing over in the corner.

This spurred on the Cents who took control, Staffieri crossing for Nicholls to convert and the gap was four points at 24-20.

From a tap penalty Walney went head. Nicholls was halted short and from the play the ball Ethan Furness crashed over, with Nicholls adding the goal.

With six minutes remaining Walney were hanging on as Jamie Morrow was sin-binned for back chatting.

But it was the home side who increased their lead as Tippett forced his way over, Nicholls adding the goal, plus a penalty.
