DAVE Clark is steeling his Askam side for a period of three games in eight days, starting with tomorrow's National Conference League Division Two clash at home to East Leeds.

Barrow Island are in NCL action tomorrow too, making the the trip to Dewsbury Celtic in Division Three.

ASKAM V EAST LEEDS

(Fallowfield Park, 2.30pm)

Askam coach Dave Clark will patch up his side, who face three tough games within eight days.

The Villagers take on an East Leeds side which has won five from six in recent weeks before facing Walney in the Barton Townley final at Craven Park on Wednesday. Then on Saturday week they travel to second-placed Wigan St Judes.

Injuries, suspensions and other commitments have hit Clark,s squad in the past month. They have lost three on the road, while home form as been good and keeps them in third place – on the same points as Judes.

“It is going to be a tough week,” said Clark. “We have to be focused on tomorrow to keep in touch with the leading two (Judes and leaders Stannigley), while we will have that mid-week game with Walney – a team that we won't take lightly.

“We have a big squad and we need that at the moment with players not available.”

Back in contention are Tom Askew, along with Brad Kavanagh with others to be added. Out are Marc Dixon,Gary Bolton, Adam Jackson, Stuart High, Sam Broadley and Jordan Johnson, while Mark Tyson and Sam Dowsett are still suspended.

DEWSBURY CELTIC V BARROW ISLAND

Island hit the road for the second week in succession with a trip to Dewsbury, who are a point behind them in sixth place.

Island will go with an air of confidence following their 30-24 win at second-placed Clock Face last weekend.

Coach Joe Elliott has sung the praises of his side that has come good in recent weeks, saying: “It was a very good win at Clock Face we played good rugby and dug in to get the points.

“Our forwards got on top and we deserved to win but it is a long season.

“The lads are playing out of their skins, none other than Sam Jones. He is great for the team, he never missed training never misses a game and deserves his call up for the BARLA tour to Fiji.”

Unavailable are Matt Parkinson and Joe Spenceley, while Jake Carter is rated 50-50 with a knee problem.

Ryan Clegg is a doubt with a shoulder injury, while back in contention are Dan White, Callum Nelson and Jake Stockdale.
