ULVERSTON are aiming for a second win of the year over Manchester Rangers when the sides meet in the North West Men's League Division Two second-versus-first clash at Dragley Beck tomorrow.

However, coach Phil Atkinson has cautioned his team to keep their minds on game rather than anything which has been said on social media.

Askam, Millom and Hindpool Tigers are all at home too, while Barrow Island make the trip to Woolston Rovers.

ULVERSTON V MANCHESTER RANGERS

(Dragley Beck, 2.30pm)

ULVERSTON coach Phil Atkinson is aware of social media tactics from the Rangers as he prepares his side for this top of the table clash in Division Two of the North West Men's League.

Without going into too much detail, Atkinson said: “Manchester are trying to upset us with things they have been saying.

“They were not happy with the way we beat them at their ground earlier in the season, which was uncalled for. It was their first home defeat in two seasons and it didn't go down too well.

“But we will not be drawn in by their tactics we will do our talking on the field and look to maintain our unbeaten home record this season.”

Rangers sit top the tree with Ulverston in second position, but home form suggests another victory for the Dragley Beck side.

Steve O'Connor, Liam Whinfield and Jake Akred return to the squad, with one or two others to be added. But Matt and Marc Storey, along with Dan Crabtree, are unavailable and injuries rule out Mike Reekes (hip) and Eddie Hill (ankle).

“Matty Storey will be a big miss he is our leader and Marc is a good organiser, but we have lads that can step up to the plate and all the players are looking forward to what should be an interesting game,” added Atkinson.

ASKAM V WIGAN ST JUDES

(Fallowfield Park, 2-30pm)

ASKAM coach Dave Clark sent out a message to his players it is time to string some wins together if they are to reach their goal and promotion to Division One of the National Conference League.

After a good start to the campaign, the Villagers have hit a lean spot with four defeats and though they lie sixth in the table they are within striking distance of a top-three place.

Last Saturday, Askam put up a good show at leaders Stanningley before losing 32-26 while St Judes lost out by the odd point in 63 at East Leeds after taking a 24-6 lead.

“We have got to get some results in the coming weeks to stay in touch with the leaders and while disappointed with the narrow defeat at Stanningley I thought we were the better team,” said Clark. “We came back from 20-10 down to lead 22-20 only to lose out.”

Russ Bolton, Stu High, Sam Shepherd and Sam Broadley are in contention, with Jamie Butler doubtful with an ankle problem.

HINDPOOL TIGERS V WIGAN ST PATRICKS A

(Brisbane Park, 2.30pm)

THE Tigers aim to get back on track following their 66-0 defeat at Haresfinch in North West Men's League Division One and coach Phil Cubiss said: “We were low on numbers at Haresfinch but should have a stronger side out this week.”

Back in the fold are John Williamson, Matty Archer, Jamie Lynne and Tony Rickleton, while Grant Burns misses out with a wrist injury.

MILLOM V OLDHAM ST ANNES

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

WOOLLYBACKS Coach Tom Sibley was pleased with last week's win over Woolston and is looking for a repeat performance this week in Division Three.

“We are capable of a win if we play like last week when we played really well – and we look to put right a last minute defeat at their place,” said Sibley.

Dane Kelly, Tyler Lancaster, Lee Postlethwaite and Niall Harris return to a near full-strength squad.

WOOLSTON ROVERS V BARROW ISLAND

BLAIN Marwood is 50-50 as the Island make the trip to Warrington after the dynamic half-back damaged his neck in last weeks win over Eastmoor Dragons.

“We are not reading too much into their defeat at Millom last week (34-8),” said Island coach Joe Elliott. “We have one or two players carrying knocks and will look at players in the A team's match tonight before finalising the squad.”
