THERE were big home wins for the leading three sides in Deltawaite Ltd Furness Senior Citizens Bowling League Division Two.
Leaders Co-op SC A beat North Scale 8-2, giving them a 20-point lead over their closest rivals.
Leading winners for the Co-op were Les Vickers, 21-7, and Dick Orrell, 21-8, with the Villagers' points coming from Gordon Walker and Tommy Gauntlett.
Second and third-placed Barrow Island A and Glaxo SK find themselves tied on points and with a 12-point advantage over fourth-placed King Alfred A.
As well as being tied with each other, they had identical 10-0 victories.
Glaxo beat Hawcoat Park C, while Barrow Island’s 10-0 win was against Salthouse A.
West Shore A triumphed 8-3 at the enigmatic Askam A, who, having won at the league leaders the previous week, were unable to build on it.
King Alfred A were comfortable 7-3 home victors against West Mount A as they look to close the gap on the leading trio in an effort to mount a late bid for the promotion places.
The remaining fixture saw Hawcoat Park B pick up a 7-3 home win against Walney Park B.
In Division One, season-long leaders Hawcoat Park slipped to only their second defeat of the season when going down 7-3 at Lindal.
The village side had three single-figure winners in Brian Andrews, 21-6, Kevin Rooney, 21-9 and John Crompton, 21-9.
Second-placed Co-op pulled back five points on the leaders following their 8-3 success at Salthouse, but still find themselves 27 points adrift – the pick of the results being Ian Sim’s 21- 9 score.
Third-placed King Alfred shared the games with Dalton CC on their visit to Ulverston Road, but took the aggregate points to triumph 7-4.
Askam had a resounding 10-1 win at bottom-of-the-table Walney Park A, for whom Ken Hackett’s 21-8 averted a whitewash.
Roose added to West Mount’s relegation woes when take an 8-3 victory on their visit to the Mount. Ulverston Cons produced a timely effort when beating Walney Park 7-3, with newcomer Tony Eva winning on debut.
West Shore defeated Barrow Island 7-3. However, the best two results were from the Island's Bill Burgess, 21-5, and Dave Dent, 21-8.
In the remaining fixture, Hawcoat Park A beat Kirkby 7-3 at home to keep themselves just above the relegation places.
