MILLOM returned to winning ways and kept up their West Lancs Division Two promotion push with victory over leaders Ladybridge.

The Red and Blacks closed the gap on the top-placed side to nine points with the 3-1 triumph at Devonshire Road – though they have five games in hand on their vanquished visitors.

Phil Edmondson netted twice for Millom, with Carl Waters also on target, as they bounced back from their 4-2 loss at lowly Tempest United reserves a week earlier.

Millom and Ladybridge are separated in the table by second-placed Leyland United, who sit seven points above the South Cumbrians, having played a game more.

Leyland are still to visit Devonshire Road this season, having seen their scheduled game there on January 6 postponed because of the weather.
