BUILDBASE FA TROPHY ROUND ONE

NUNEATON TOWN 0 BARROW AFC 1 (Harrison 90)

BYRON Harrison sent Barrow AFC into the second round of the FA Trophy with an injury-time winner at Nuneaton.

Harrison struck late on, getting the final touch to a Jack Barthram cross to ensure there was no need for a midweek replay at Holker Street.

Manager Ady Pennock took the chance to take a look at several players yet to feature extensively under his Bluebirds tenure, with Joel Dixon, Jack Barthram, Dan Jones and Donovan Makoma all starting.

But the rejigged visitors were unable to come together to cause their National League North hosts problems.

Harrison had a couple of half-chances, while Jimmy Dunne had the best opening for the visitors, but saw his effort saved.

Nuneaton had openings themselves, with Billy Daniels forcing a save from Joel Dixon, and Moussa Diarra getting back to block the same man late on.

It looked to be heading for a replay, but Harrison got his head to the ball in the 91st minute to ensure progress for the Bluebirds.

The second round draw will take place on Monday lunchtime.
