Given Barrow AFC’s excellent form in recent weeks, it’s unlikely manager Ian Evatt will change too much for tomorrow’s match at Bromley, but he is pleased to have plenty of options available to him.

The Bluebirds have a fully-fit squad of outfield players to choose from, with only back-up goalkeeper Johnny Saltmer unavailable, although even he has returned to training following the elbow injury he picked up in pre-season.

Evatt has plenty of players knocking on his door looking for a starting opportunity, but with AFC heading to South London on the back of five straight wins, those he has been picking of late have made themselves difficult to leave out.

Evatt said: “We do a lot of research and work on the opposition and the conditions and Saturday is a different kind of game because it’s on a ‘3G’ pitch and we need to pick a team to cope with the direct style and the second balls.

“We’ll be doing that and then things change again when we’re back at home, but we look at each opposition and pick accordingly. We don’t keep going with the same team for the sake of it.

“We pick teams for each individual game and we’ll be doing the same on Saturday.”

The game in South London starts a busy week for the Bluebirds, who follow up that 350-mile round trip with two home games against Boreham Wood and Dover Athletic, which comes not long after a similar period that finished with last Saturday’s 2-0 win against Maidenhead.

Evatt said: “The players were a bit tired - they’d had a tough run, with a couple of away games at Ebbsfleet and Chorley and then backing that up on Saturday.

“We gave them an extra day off on Monday to try and get their legs recovered in time for another push and they’re OK. The squad is still fully-fit, still raring to go, everyone seems to have come through the weekend well and are ready to push on again this Saturday.”
