Barrow manager Ian Evatt says his side are ready for another big test as they face Maidenhead United at Holker Street tomorrow.

The Bluebirds have now won their last four league games, a run of form which has propelled them into the National League play-off places.

Evatt isn’t getting carried away just yet, but hopes his sides form will encourage plenty of supporters through the gates on Saturday.

“The result at Chorley was another fantastic one, the lads did really well but we have to back it up again on Saturday and we will be ready to do that.

"I couldn’t be more proud of how well we are playing, the lads showed a lot of character on Tuesday with Chorley not being the easiest place to go.

"But now is the time to not get too excited, we have to keep our heads down, keep working hard on the training ground and see where it takes us.

"Hopefully we can get a packed Holker Street on Saturday to make some noise for these players because they deserve it.”

A key part of the Bluebirds fine run of form has been the goals of midfielder John Rooney.

However, with fellow central midfielder Jason Taylor suspended for Tuesday’s game, Rooney showed he is more than capable of a different style of play to cover for Taylor’s defensive capabilities.

Another superb performance saw him do just that, whilst still managing to grab himself a couple of goals from the spot and his manager couldn’t be more pleased with him.

“John has got a natural ability of goal scoring at this level, even before he came to the club.

" I genuinely think he has improved too and continues to improve which is the good thing.

"He enjoys the way we play, his work ethic on and off the pitch is top class and his effort in training is something the young lads need to look up to and they do.

"Hopefully he can keep going from strength to strength.”

The Bluebirds have now scored three goals in each of their last three games, conceding just once, with the Barrow boss delighted with how dangerous his side look going forward.

“We’ve got Olly Dyson, Jack Hindle and Byron Harrison - Josh Kay and Brad Barry like to go forward so we can get goals from them too.

"We have quality in abundance really and we have options there.

"There is a long way to go and we need everyone to chip in.”
