BARROW AFC have sent a message to supporters in light of the recent troubles on the streets of the UK.
A joint statement from chief operating officer Alisha Henry and community engagement officer Emmanuel Allen-Burnett on the club’s official website read:
“As we gear up for the start of the 2024/25 SkyBet League Two season and our fans prepare to attend our matches in large numbers, we are eagerly looking forward to welcoming all of you back to The SO Legal Stadium.
“Unfortunately, as towns and cities across the country have been getting ready for the return of football, we have seen some unpleasant incidents that nobody wants to see happen again.
“Barrow Football Club strongly opposes any form of intolerance.
“Throughout the years, our town and our football club have welcomed people from across the world to come here to work, study, raise their families, and help build our communities. We respect each other and celebrate the richness of all our diverse histories and cultures.
“Barrow is proud to be a part of your community, and we aim to use our platform to support local people while providing a sense of identity, family, and togetherness.
“The vision of Barrow Community Foundation is to create a healthier, stronger, and more active community within Barrow-in-Furness. Consequently, violence and abuse will not be tolerated in any shape or form in our town.
“We strive to provide sporting opportunities for all of our people that are inclusive and accessible to all. As we use the power of football as a vehicle for education and change, we aim to improve the lives of everyone.”
