BARROW AFC's all-Cumbrian clash with Carlisle next month has been brought forward - on police advice.

The Brunton Park game on Saturday, November 13 will now kick off at 1pm, rather than the original 3pm.

Both clubs said the decision had been made after consultation with the police.

It will be the first league game between the two clubs in front of supporters since 1964.

Both meetings last season had to be played behind closed doors because of Covid-19 restrictions.

United are Barrow's closest geographical rivals in League Two this season.

A good travelling support will be expected when Mark Cooper's side make the 85-mile trip.

The Bluebirds currently sit 11th in League Two, 11 places and six points above managerless United.

The game will see a number of former Carlisle players return to Brunton Park with the visitors.

Paul Farman and Offrande Zanzala, who left Carlisle for Barrow in this summer, will be among them.

Other ex-United players in Cooper's squad include Patrick Brough, Connor Brown, Mark Ellis, Tom White and the currently-injured duo of Jamie Devitt and Mike Jones.

United won the corresponding fixture 1-0 last season thanks to a Jon Mellish goal.

The sides later drew 2-2 at Holker Street, with Jack Armer and Zanzala netting for United either side of goals from Scott Quigley and Brough.
