BARROW AFC is currently on the lookout for Host Family Providers for the Academy throughout the 2022/23 season.

The Academy is in need of host family providers to support the elite young players who need to live away from home to undertake their football training at our Club with their new Under-18 side.

Academy Host Providers offer a valuable service to the Club. The more providers the Bluebirds have, the more players they can recruit from across the United Kingdom. And, with trials beginning in the near future, the club is now welcoming contact from those who may be interested.

Host families will be required to provide homely accommodation throughout the season. Players, who may range from 16 to 18, will require their own room with access to public transport and local amenities desirable.

AFC placements involve the player staying in the accommodation for up to six nights per week.

Host families are also required to guide the young players by teaching them basic independent living skills such as washing, cooking, cleaning and looking after themselves.

The host family will also be asked to provide meals (dependent upon the Academy schedule) in line with the basic nutrition guide supplied by the Academy.

Additionally, they will need to protect and care for the young players under their responsibility.

Families will be provided with funds to support the players. If you are interested, email Liam Reid, academy manager, on l.reid@barrowafc.com.
