Barrow AFC notched their second victory of pre-season as they moved a step closer to being ready for the opening day of the new campaign.

The Bluebirds’ penultimate friendly saw them run out 1-0 winners against Nottingham Forest youngsters thanks to a second-half goal from Dimitri Sea.

Forest under-23s boss Andy Reid gave his view on the Bluebirds following the match.

He told the club's website: We’ve played a League Two team and they’re used to the hustle and bustle of the league, which is what we have to get used to."

The result means Mark Cooper’s side have won two, drawn one and lost once in pre-season so far, with a final warm-up against Southport scheduled for Saturday before the return of League Two action at Stevenage on Saturday, August 7.

It was also the second time in pre-season that Barrow have matched up well with Championship opposition, after they drew with Birmingham City earlier this month.

The result will have been a welcome one after Cooper's team lost 1-0 to Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

Speaking to the club's website before the game, the Cumbrians' boss said the aim was 'trying to get all the players an equal amount of minutes' ahead of getting back into competitive action.

After the opening day, Barrow face three back-to-back home games against Scunthorpe United, Hartlepool United and Exeter City and the club has confirmed that home supporters from all areas of Holker Street will be allowed to access the fan zone and The Cross Bar on matchdays.
