BARROW Raiders’ ‘special’ second half showing against Doncaster was one of the best performances Paul Crarey has ever seen.

The head coach was ecstatic after Raiders’ 31-6 win at Craven Park on Sunday - a result that keeps his side top of League 1.

Crarey said: “I thought we were outstanding. I have seen some games and some moments on this ground before but that second half was something else - how they worked for each other, managed the game, played through the middle.

“I think we put on 19 points or something ridiculous with 12 men.

“We spoke at half time that what we do best is play through the middle with our forwards and little short passes and just stay on the process.

“We put Brad Crellin as a little pivot to just engage with his back rower to lay some lines for us and then we went back onto the middle and we just religiously stuck to it.

“I am just so proud of the lads for what they are doing. That was just something special and the fans let us know it was special walking off.”

Special praise was also reserved for Charlie Emslie following his man of the match performance and has now drawn comparisons with a Barrow great.

Crarey said: “Charlie is doing great. He has come through our system and knows it inside out, he 19 years of age and he has got an old head on his shoulders. He reminds me of a young Frank Foster. He is so tough and is a good kid.”

Raiders next face Keighley Cougars away on Sunday.
