CHARLIE Emslie is set to make his Raiders debut just two weeks after taking the professional ticket.

The former Millom forward is drafted in by coach Paul Crarey for the clash with London Skolars with the squad down to just 18 players due to injuries and a five-match ban imposed on Dan Toal.

Emslie has come through the system with Millom and Barrow/s Academy and has a bright future ahead.

Also in the party that travelled to the capital last night was his former Millom team mate Connor Terrill coming in for his second outing while a third ex – Woolyback, Nathan Mossop is established in the team.

On the treatment table this week were skipper Jarrad Stack (Chest injury) Mark Tyson (Ankle) and Declan Hulme (Concussion). The trio join long term injured Jordan Walne, Ryan Shaw and Ben Harrison.

Hulme suffered concussion in last week’s victory over Rochdale the second time in a matter of weeks and will seek further tests. On the plus side Jake Carter is back after two weeks out through injury.

Crarey is not taking the Skolars lightly despite the Londoners taking a hefty beating at home last week to Hunslet Warriors (62-10). The boss said: “No games are easy and London are a team that you don’t know who they are fielding from one week to the next.

"We had to take a second overnight stay within two weeks which is not the best preparation but we have to get into town pick up the points and get out.

"At least it shouldn’t be as bad as the West Wales trip which took over ten hours and being under lockdown making it hard work for refreshments.

"Then it was 2am before we got back home.

"We are down to the barebones but we have to get on with it and hope we come out unscathed.

"We don’t want to pick up further injuries with three tough matches coming up.

"We have two home games on the trot with Workington and Doncaster followed by a trip to Keighley. We will go down the middle route as we are very strong in the forwards but we also have a speedy back division so we will play what tactics are necessary."

The Raiders are currently top of League One with six straight wins but cannot take the foot off the pedal with the next three opponents themselves pushing hard for top spot.

The Skolars were in contention with Hunslet last week but collapsed in the second half, having conceded 238 points in their six games. The kick-off is 3-30pm and is live on Our League.
