MILLOM got their National Conference season off to a good start with a 20-10 win over Hensingham in the Cumbria division.

In the North West Men's League, second division Hindpool Tigers fell two points short of a half century as they beat St Pats “A” in a 48-0 score-line.

In the second period errors crept into the Tigers' play, but they added a further 22 points to run out comfortable winners.

Roose Pioneers came from behind in Division Three to defeat previously unbeaten Salford Red Roosters 14-12. They trailed 6-4 at the break but were inspired by Man of the Match Adam Batty to claim the points.

Batty crossed for a try and kicked two goals, with Liam Armistead touching down twice.

Ulverston’s game at Oldham St Annes “A” was called off due to bar staff at the club being tested positive for Covid. The Annes secretary informed Ulverston that the council closed the club house, leading to the game’s suspension.

At Kelland Park, Dalton cruised to a 46-16 win over previously unbeaten Latchford Albion.

It was a highly entertaining game with Sam Purslow leading the rout with a hat-trick of tries with man of the match Harry Gordon also claiming a hat-trick, plus a brace from Zac Steele who added six goals.

Dalton travel to Ulverston on Thursday evening with a 7.30pm kick-off.
