Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey hailed his side's 'outstanding' performance to overcome Rochdale Hornets.

Crarey said that he expected a ‘tough’ encounter against Matt Calland’s side and was left impressed as Barrow maintained their perfect record..

“It was always going to be tough against a side like that," he said.

“They are packed with experience and they know how to slow the game down.

“It was a little bit grubby in that first period and we spoke about that before we went out. Teams are going to do that against us.

“We weathered the storm and we came out and had a blistering second half.

“The game is about the 80 minutes; we talk about the first half, but for me it is about the 80 minutes.

“I thought it was a good game all round.

“They were pretty good, well organised, always going to be with Matt Calland coaching them and they have got some good tricks up their sleeves, but to concede four points and to score 40 is outstanding.”

Tries from Jarrad Stack, Callum Bustin, Carl Forster and a hat-trick from Tee Ritson set Barrow on their way in front of 1,756 fans at Craven Park.

This was Ritson’s second hat-trick of the season in what was another terrific performance for the winger as he claimed the man of the match award.

Despite the positive result, Crarey said he would be reviewing the game for a closer inspection into some ‘off the ball incidents’.

He added: “There were a few off the ball incidents that happened and I wasn’t too happy about them.

"We will have a look at them on the tape.”

However, Crarey will still be delighted by his team’s 100 per cent record.

Barrow lead League 1 after collecting six wins from six games, with second-placed Doncaster two points behind.

Attention now turns to London Skolars, with Crarey’s men travelling to the capital next Saturday.

Crarey said: “It gets tough down there.

“We have got a few players out now through injuries.

“So, it is down to who we can patch up and put out there for next week.

“We will go there with the focus of getting a result and getting back on the coach to Barrow.”

The Skolars are eighth in League 1.

Jermaine Coleman’s side have won two of their opening six games, losing four.

The match at The New River Stadium will kick off at 3.30pm.
