BARROW AFC have made a sensational U-turn as they announced the return of Josh Kay on Friday.

Kay had been told by the club his playing contract will not be renewed this summer, but new boss Mark Cooper has now reversed that decision to give the midfielder a new two-year deal at Holker Street.

Kay said: "I am absolutely over the moon."

"I had a few different options which I was looking at but, at the end of it all and after I had spoken to my family and my agent, Barrow was the best one for me, especially the way the Manager is looking to play.

"I have spoken to him and he has told me where he sees me fitting into the side and it feels like finally, after three seasons here, I am going to get a chance to play the position I feel I am best at.

"One of the main things that swayed me was how much the Manager wanted me, that just makes you feel good from the off and I feel like I owe him now and I want to do my best for him.

"I am buzzing, I honestly just can’t wait."

Manager Cooper said: "I was really keen to get Josh back into the Club as soon as I took the job."

"The pace and creativity that he has are things that I see becoming a real asset for us next season.

"You can never have enough pace and creativity in a team, so I am pleased he’s agreed the deal and I am really looking forward to working with him."
