Hunslet 6-29 Raiders

BARROW Raiders maintained their unbeaten start to the Betfred League 1 season with a win on the road at Hunslet.

The victory means Raiders and fellow Cumbrians Workington Town are the only two sides to have a perfect record after just three games.

The opening ten minutes saw both sides make mistakes as they struggled to exert their dominance in the game.

Both sides had made good chances to break the deadlock but neither could muster a try until Hunslet made the breakthrough in the 39th minute through Tom Ashton.

Dominic Brambani added the extras - but that was to be the last time Hunslet got themselves on the scoresheet.

An instant reply from Jake Carter with Jamie Dallimore successfully kicking a goal saw the sides go in level at the break.

Hunslet almost went back in front but excellent defence from Tee Ritson and Luke Cresswell prevented a try.

Raiders ramped up the pressure and went ahead when Dallimore picked the ball up from an offload and charged through the defence to go over.

Ritson added a try his own to extend the lead to 6-18 before Ryan Johnston put the game beyond doubt after excellent work from Ritson.

Ritson rounded off the afternoon with his second try of the game before Dallimore added a drop goal late on.
