BARROW AFC’s Scott Quigley and Patrick Brough have expressed their delight at winning the two top end-of-season awards at the club.

Top scorer Quigley took the Fans’ Player of the Year award after firing 15 goals during his debut season in the EFL, while Brough earned the prestigious Players’ Player of the Year award after an outstanding campaign.

Striker Quigley told the club's website: “I am buzzing, thanks very much.

“It has been a rollercoaster of a season but one that I have enjoyed a proper taste of Barrow in the Football League and I am really pleased with the season.

"I am just really made up.

“That was just the start and hopefully we can kick on next year.

“The fans are paying all that money to come and watch you play so I think you should have a good relationship with them and try and be as transparent as you can for how you have got on this year.

“You have to take the bad times with the good, obviously from promotion last year to a bit of regulation scrap.

“I think sometimes the fans don’t think you care but all the people in that changing room care and that was really apparent when Rob Kelly took over.

“It has been an interesting ride but I just really appreciate winning this award.”

After winning Players’ player, wing back Brough, said: “Wow, very good, best one you can get for me, I am chuffed, don’t know what to say really apart from thanks to all the lads for voting.

“I am pretty chuffed as I didn’t think I was going to get it.

“All the awards are massive but to get the recognition off the lads you are going onto the pitch with week in week out and spend everyday training with, for me, it is the biggest one you can get.

“I am delighted.

“You don’t know what to say in this situation, it is a bit of a surprise.

“We have had tough times, there is no denying that, I have focused on myself as I have changed position a bit, but I knew I could do it as I played there in the past.”

He went on to highlight his favourite goals against Mansfield away and against Carlisle.
