BARROW PE teacher Elliot Newby has been named Chorley FC's player of the season.
The winger was announced as the club's award winner on Monday.
Newby, a former Barrow AFC player, was instrumental in the Lancashire club's fairytale FA Cup run earlier this season.
The National League North side were knocked out of the fourth round of the competition by Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers after a narrow 1-0 win at Victory Park.
In the previous round, Newby assisted Chorley’s second goal as Jamie Vermiglio’s team defeated a youthful Derby County side 2-0 at Victory Park.
During the first round, Newby inspired his side to a comeback against local rivals Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, as they overturned a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. In the second round, Chorley defeated another League One side, Peterborough United.
Newby is now on loan at National League Stockport County after a premature end to Chorley's season.
