Georgia Stanway and Manchester City have been eliminated from the Women's Champions League by Barcelona despite a 2-1 win over the Spanish side on Wednesday evening.

The Barrovian came on as a second-half substitute in the 73rd minute with Gareth Taylor's side needing three goals to overturn the 3-0 deficit from the quarter-final first leg.

Janine Beckie had put City 1-0 in the first-half, with The Citizens heading into half-time needing two more goals to send the game into extra time.

However, Asisat Oshoala responded for the visitors in 59th minute at the Manchester City Academy Stadium, all but ending their chances of progressing to the semi-finals.

Sam Mewis did convert a penalty for the Manchester side in the 68th minute, meaning that City did win on the night, but bow out of the competition.

All attention will now turned to the WSL for City, as they chase their second title.

City next face mid-table Tottenham Hotspur at the Hive Stadium on Easter Sunday.
