England Women’s coach Hege Riise has included Georgia Stanway in her 20-player squad for the upcoming February international camp.

Barrovian Stanway, who has won 19 England caps, is one of eight current Manchester City players in the side, with club and national team captain Steph Houghton joining her at St George’s Park.

The Lionesses will meet up at the team’s Staffordshire base on Thursday 18 February for a five-day intensive camp that will be operated under strict COVID-19 elite sport guidelines.

Riise’s team welcome Northern Ireland to St George’s Park for a friendly game on Tuesday 23 February.

It will be the interim boss’ first match in charge of the Lionesses.

Riise told the FA website: “I'm looking forward to leading my first international camp with England.

"I've watched a lot of England and club matches and believe this is a group of players who are capable of winning at a major tournament.

“My work from now until Sarina Wiegman’s arrival is to develop their ability, playing style and physical conditioning to contribute to future success – this summer and beyond.

“It's great for the players to have an official fixture to look forward to and is an opportunity to implement everything they have worked on from previous training camps.”

This month’s game is the side’s first official fixture since their 2-0 defeat against the United States in the SheBelieves Cup in March last year.

The camp is part of the Lionesses’ preparation for Team GB’s Olympic campaign, which is set to take place in Tokyo this summer.
