Rugby league siblings Adam and Jordan Walne have used the sport's suspension to open their new business.

The two brothers opened Raw and Outdoor in Preston during April of last year, a month after Barrow Raiders’ 2020 season was suspended.

Combining exercise and outdoors, Raw and Outdoor provides its users with the chance to train in a different and more enjoyable manner, said Adam.

He said: “It’s going really well.

“We got furloughed from rugby and we just thought if there was ever a time to put it into place – it was now.

“We thought why do people have to be stuck inside a gym to exercise, when exercising outside brings so many benefits to our physical and mental health?

“We want to simplify fitness, we’ve learned from the best nutritionists, sports psychologists and coaches, and giving simple advice works the best every time.”

At the heart of the business is the goal to improve their members’ wellbeing, which is epitomised by the RAW method, which supports their members to establish simple and positive routines to help improve their lives and workouts.

Although gyms have been closed during the lockdown, the two have continued to provide free, live workouts on their Instagram account, rawandoutdoor.

Throughout lockdown, the Walne brothers have maintained their match fitness ahead of the 2021 season with their outdoor gym.

Adam admitted the delayed start was not ideal, but accepted it was necessary.

After joining last year, Adam, revealed his close bond with his brother Jordan influenced his decision to join and is hopeful that the two can help the Raiders win promotion to the Championship.

“Playing with Jordan was a massive part of my decision to go to Barrow,” Adam said.

“When I got to the end of my contract at Huddersfield and spoke to Barrow, it became a no-brainer.

“It works well around the business and we’re going to be on the field together.

“We have got a good team together at Barrow – we want to win everything and will take it week to week.

“We will be doing ourselves an injustice if we don’t go for promotion.”
