Paul Ogden will play an invaluable role in helping Michael Jolley continue to build at Barrow AFC, the manager says.

Ogden this week returned to Holker Street as chief scout in a move welcomed by the Bluebirds boss.

Jolley believes he will prove an important addition to the backroom team. He said: “Paul’s obviously somebody who’s worked previously at the club and has a good, long history with the club.

“He’s somebody who has been in the game for a long time, has a wealth of contacts and experience, and when it was put to me that he could help us, I felt it was something I was happy to work alongside.

“The manager’s role is a tough one in terms of coaching the players, trying to do all the transfers, trying to do everything, especially coming into a January window, so Paul’s been helpful in terms of taking some of that burden away from me, filtering some of the incoming calls from agents, stuff like that.

“Paul is also helpful in terms of identifying players maybe I’m not aware of. I’m aware of lots and lots of players but you don’t necessarily cover everything. That’s been helpful, and he’s been a big help so far.”

Former Port Vale midfielder Ogden, who has worked as head of football operations at Barrow in the past, has managerial experience in non-league with the likes of Leek Town, Kidsgrove Athletic and Witton Albion.
