Former Barrow AFC player Jayden Reid has moved to League Two side Walsall.

The forward has joined on loan until the end of the season from Championship side Birmingham City.

During the first half of the season, the 19-year-old featured for The Bluebirds, with most of his appearances for the club coming under previous manager David Dunn.

Reid made 12 appearances in total for Barrow and returned to St Andrew’s earlier this month without finding the net.

Following his loan experience at Holker Street, Reid revealed that he is now looking to improve his game whilst with The Saddlers.

Reid said: “As a young player making a step into league football it’s always good getting experience but with the experience I need to show the club and the players that I am good enough to play and help the team finish as high as possible providing hard work, goals and assists.

“I had a strong first half of the season at Barrow and got a taster of what league football is like.

“From my first game I could feel the competitiveness and hunger to win games also how much it means to the players and staff.

“So, I’ll be looking to implement the same hunger and desire to win as much as possible.”

Reid will be set for a reunion with his former teammates at Barrow, as The Bluebirds will be travelling down to the midlands when they face Darrell Clarke’s Walsall at Banks’s Stadium on March 9.
