Bluebirds boss Michael Jolley has already turned his focus to next weekend's visit of fellow League Two relegation battlers Scunthorpe United in search of an immediate response from his players.

Barrow host Scunthorpe, who had their weekend game against Bradford called off due to a frozen pitch, next Saturday in another big game at the bottom of League Two.

And Jolley is desperate for his charges to get back to winning ways in another important game and quickly get over the disappointment of the weekend's loss against Southend United.

He said: “We’ve had a nice little run, as you say, but we need more than that.

“It’s disappointing to come away from nothing here but there’s another important game next week and that’s what we’ve got to focus on now.

“It’s a home game so it’s one that we will try and win.”

The Iron are three points ahead of Jolley’s outfit and had started 2021 with a 3-1 defeat at struggling Stevenage.

They ended last year with a 2-1 win at Walsall and, despite their troubles this season, did beat the Bluebirds 2-1 when the two sides met last month.

Barrow saw an upturn in form after the departure of David Dunn, with caretaker boss Rob Kelly overseeing back-to-back wins, before Jolley oversaw a draw against Tranmere.

Saturday's defeat at the hands of Southend left the former Grimsby Town manager disappointed but this weekend will provide a clash with an out-of-form side and the opportunity for Jolley and his squad to put that result behind them straight away.

Following that visit they will take on Grimsby Town at home on Tuesday, January 26 and then face a trip to Bradford City on Saturday, January 30.

n The club have confirmed that the League Two trip to Cheltenham Town which had been scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 23, has now been postponed.

The Robins beat Mansfield Town 2-1 at the weekend to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup, which will be played that weekend, so the Bluebirds' visit is set to be rescheduled.

"We’ll have news of a rearranged date once all the details are confirmed," the club said.
