Barrow AFC have the carrot of another home tie in the FA Cup – if they can get past AFC Wimbledon.
The Bluebirds will face fellow League Two side Crawley if they win their rearranged First Round game.
It means two games at the Progression Solicitors Stadium stand between David Dunn’s side and a potentially lucrative Third Round tie.
Crawley advanced to the second round thanks to an astonishing 6-5 extra-time win against Torquay on Sunday afternoon.
The Sussex outfit, managed by John Yems, edged a hugely dramatic game thanks to a hat-trick from Tom Nichols and goals from Jordan Tunnicliffe, Max Watters and Ashley Nadesan.
If Barrow make it through – with the Wimbledon tie yet to be rearranged – it will be their first clash with Crawley since 2011, when the clubs met in the Blue Square Premier. Crawley edged that game 3-2 while the last meeting at Holker Street was a 1-1 draw, Jason Walker on target from the penalty spot for AFC. The tie is due to be played on the weekend of November 27-30.
That means it could be the first of two meetings with Crawley in quick succession, with Dunn’s side set to face Yems’ men in Sussex on December 12.
