Andy Gaffney fully believes Barrow Raiders are in with a shout of promotion next season - and is hoping to announce more big signings next week.

Gaffney re-signed Carl Forster on a two year deal this week, and he followed Shaun Lunt who was the club’s first signing of the summer.

Jamie Dallimore also penned a new deal with the club this week, in another boost for the Raiders.

Despite a lack of action on the field, Gaffney and chairman Steve Neale are working hard to get next year’s squad in place.

Talks are ongoing with the current squad about extending deals.

And Gaffney believes with the new faces coming in, the Raiders will have a squad capable of going for promotion to the Championship.

He said: “We are hoping to announce a top signing next week if all things go well.

“And we are in discussions with many of last seasons squad about signing for the next season.

“We have our eyes on other signings as well and things are being put in place behind the scene.es

“We want to get some fresh faces in and we are going for promotion next season.

“We were delighted to bring in Carl Forster on a two year deal. His experience will be key to us.”

Players are still working to personal fitness programmes, as the RFL is yet to give the nod for training to return.

A date for competitive action is also yet to be decided.
