Young Bluebirds fans have been getting creative for a new Barrow AFC competition.

Fans of the club have been designing their own dream Barrow shirt, and are hoping to win prizes.

As first prize, the club is offering the chance to be a mascot at Barrow next home game - once the team is back playing at Holker Street.

Second place will win their very own Barrow home shirt, with third winning a family ticket.

A Barrow AFC spokesperson said: “Throughout the current season we have seen the number of younger supporters attending our games sky-rocket, with several hundred Young Bluebirds attending every game. As we aren’t playing at the moment, it is important to keep all of our supporters engaged with the club, because when we start up again their incredible support will be more important than ever.

"With many parents and children at home looking for things to do, we were keen to try and help them out and as it is the time of year that we start looking at next year’s playing kits, we thought a shirt design competition would be the ideal competition to run. We have some fantastic prizes up for grabs and the winners will be chosen by a panel including manager Ian Evatt.

"We have been delighted with the number of entries received so far and the quality of the designs that have been submitted has blown us away. It’s clear that a lot of effort has gone into every design and we hope that everyone has enjoyed taking part above all else.

"Like the rest of the UK, all at Barrow AFC are extremely grateful for the hard work of our NHS and key workers and we were delighted to see that some of the designs paid tribute to them. Lots of the entries had a Barrovian theme too, with submarines, the Town Hall building and Furness Abbey just some of the icons featured, which is really encouraging.

"Entries are open until April 7, a shirt template can be downloaded from our website and details of how to enter are included with that.”
