It's been a tough season for South Lakes men in Division Two North of the North West League, but they managed to record an impressive 4-2 win against Preston 4th XI in their final home game of the campaign.

Alec Gaydon scored twice for Lakes, who are guaranteed to finish second-from-bottom in the table, while their other goals came from Patrick Eayton-Morris and Lee Storey, as they downed the team who sit fifth.

It wasn't as successful a send-off from Ulverston Leisure Centre for South Lakes ladies in Division Three North West of the North West League, as they went down to a 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool Sefton 3rd XI.

It was Lakes' third defeat in a row and they'll hope to finish their campaign on a winning note when they travel across Cumbria to face Keswick on Saturday.

Windermere men’s 1st XI secured their status in Division Two West of the North League with a convincing 7-2 home victory against Lytham St Annes.

Leading 3-1 at half-time, Mere put the result to bed with another four goals after the interval as Lytham struggled to handle Mere’s expansive pass-and-move style.

Mere’s goalscorers were skipper Adam Whiteheadm who got a hat-trick, Will Dolman (2), Jake Sorrenson and Archie Dalzell.

Another win in their last match away at University of Liverpool on Saturday could see Mere finish as high as sixth in a very competitive division.

Windermere ladies 1st XI beat Lancaster Nomads 4-0 in their penultimate Lancashire Central League Premier Division fixture.

Playing some of their best team hockey this season, Mere were far the better side with Kitty Brownell and Raine Wickens posing a constant attacking threat and Hannah Clark, Kitty Carr, Zoe Birkett and Jess Fox controlling just about everything in midfield. Stand-in goalkeeper Eilis Lightfoot hardly touched the ball.

Windermere men’s 2nd XI cruised to an 8-0 win over Fylde 4th XI to finish their season third in Division Four North North of the North West League.

Man-of-the-match Hector Westmorland-Nicholson and Elliot Kirby both scored hat-tricks and Michael Shields and Jack Spiby were Mere’s other scorers.
