It was goals galore in the Barrow & District Junior Football League last weekend as most teams survived the horrendous weather towards the back end of the week to get their matches on.

In the under-12s league, there were impressive wins for Millom Juniors, Hawcoat Park and Furness Rovers Royals whilst Furness Cavaliers ran out 5-2 winners at Furness Rovers Knights.

Crooklands Casuals Oranges kept their lead at the top of the league with an easy victory over third-placed side Holker Old Boys and with it also kept their unbeaten run intact.

The under-14 leagues provided very similar results with the Premiership serving up victories for Furness Cavaliers under-13s and under-14s whilst table-toppers Hawcoat Park Dynamos kept a clean sheet in their 6-0 away win at Holker Old Boys Eagles.

Ben Ridgeway scored twice, while Hawcoat's other goals came from Jacob Ellis, Luke Ellis, Kian Holt and Sam Wright.

Three games were also played in the Championship with the closest game being between the teams which were second and third in the league.

Hawcoat Park Hawks managed to make home advantage count over Millom Blacks with a 2-1 victory to open up a three-point gap to their close rivals, whilst both Askam United and Barrow Island both picked up comfortable victories.

Both Holker teams were in action in the under-16s Premiership and they both managed to run out winners with the under-15’s Colts edging out a 3-2 encounter away against Furness Rovers Whites.

Meanwhile in the Championship the game between Holker Old Boys Stags and Crooklands Casuals was postponed only leaving two other games on in the competition.

Vickerstown under-15s Blues won 5-2 at home whilst Swarthmoor Colts completed a 14-1 demolition job against bottom-of-the-table Crooklands Casuals under-15s, with Joseph Dockery and Sam Storey both scoring four goals apiece, to maintain their 100 per cent record.
