Barrow Friday League snooker champions British Legion A finished off their campaign with a 3-0 defeat at home to the Navy Club.

Billy Burns was first up for the champions and was always chasing the game, with his opponent Dave Wilkie clearing up on the last colours to win well 52-26.

Joe O’Leary won a tight game on the black against Legion’s captain John Tyerman 54-47 on what turned out to be a bad day at the office for the home side, with Andy Charnley completing the surprise whitewash for the Navy with a good potting game after Dave Simpson, this year’s aggregate winner, started his game with a 24 break.

The British Legion took the runners-up spot with a 2-1 win against the Barrow Football Supporters Club, with Jack Arnold winning the first game of the night with a 57-20 score against Frank Mullen.

Jimmie Christie levelled with a 49-20 win against Keith Meloy before Legion's captain Mike Smith sealed the result with a 66 -18 win over stand-in Nathan Johnson.

Roose Cons earned a good 2-1 win over Vickerstown Cricket Club thanks to good wins for Lee Majors, who beat Jimmy Allen 65-32, and Nick Wilkes taking a tight game against Stuart Benson. Dave Kewley lost out to Josh Francis with a 49-33 scoreline.

The British Legion sealed this year’s billiards league title by winning all their games at the Barrow Football Supporters Club.

Captain Allan Edmondson and Kevin Quinn took both their games with a 30 break against Denis Plant and Jimmy Wilson, respectively, and they share this year’s aggregate prize after winning 13 games over the season. Alf Carruthers sealed the final point for the visitors with a 100-79 win over Stuart Culbert.

The Navy Club were one game up from the match played earlier in the week against British Legion A, which Geoff Turner won 100-74. Steve Hetherington won the first game 100-66 on the night against Navy captain John Clamp before Paul Kyle made it a Navy victory courtesy of winning 100-83 against Tony Macmillan.

Vickerstown CC took two home games against Roose Cons with Peter Scott and Lee Jefferson beating Rob Chissim and Mike Irving, respectively. Peter Roberts pulling a point back for the visitors with a 100-90 win over David Holmes.
