South Lakes women continued their superb form in Division Three North West of the North League with a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Preston.
It was Lakes' fourth victory in a row -easily their best run of the season - and it took them up to fourth in the table, as they went above Lancaster and Morecambe, who were not in action.
In what was a dramatic game, South Lakes went into half-time 1-0 in front, but Preston turned the game around with two goals in two minutes as the match moved towards a frantic finish.
However, the visitors showed their powers of recovery by quickly equalising before snatching the win with a late winner, just five minutes after going behind.
It was a tougher afternoon for South Lakes men, who were heavily beaten 6-1 at Horwich in Division Two North of the North West League, where they remain second-from-bottom.
Stuart Smith was on target for the Lakes, but a hat-trick from Anthony Reid, two goals from Tony Sanderson and a penalty corner strike from Dave Whiteside ensured a comfortable win for Horwich.
